It's a little hard to think about fall with the warm weather we've been enjoying. However, Summer will come to a close, a cooler temperature will return to the air and Fall back-to-school shopping will be here before you know it.
Our next sale is at a new location. Our Spring/Summer sales for kids and women were better and bigger than expected. So, we have a great 4,000 square foot facility that we'll be using for our Fall/Winter kids sale August 4-7, 2010.
We even planned it just early enough before school starts so you can get all your back-to-school shopping done without having to shop at the mall. Of course, you could shop at the mall, but why would you want to pay retail? Thanks to our amazing consignors, we'll have great deals on brands like Ralph Lauren, Kelly's Kids, Gymboree and more.
I absolutely loved being in the first center that we were in. It is a beautiful center and the guys that own the center were incredibly accommodating. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for commercial space.
This is a business for us. However, I have to say that the only reason I got this involved is because I really love the idea of what 3 Savvy Sisters can provide for both our sellers and our shoppers. It is a great way to clean out the closets of our little darlings and make a little money in the process unless you're like a lot of the girls who use it as a way to pay for the next season's clothing.
It also provides a great way for shoppers to come in and get amazing deals on clothing, toys and other things for their family. Whether we are in a good or not so good economy, it's always a savvy decision to be smart with your budget. This fall, we hope you and your friends will get involved with us!

The Ladies
When my hubby and I still lived in Los Angeles (Valencia), we used to drive out to Santa Barbara for the day and one of our stops was a really great women's consignment shop. I was working in retail at the time and was buying a lot of clothing, accessories and shoes, so finding a place I could sell my older clothes at was great. When I realized how much it helped me keep the closet cleaned out and allowed me to make some money on my older clothes, I was hooked.
So, I just decided that we're doing another sale - - - this time just for the ladies! That's right. You've been out running around to all the kids consignment sales and now it is your turn to get all dolled up.
The basic info:
March 17 - $5 pre-sale night - 5P-9P
March 18 - 9A-7P
March 19 - 10A-6P
March 20 - 9A-1P
Remember - volunteers get early shopping privileges! Visit 3 Savvy Sisters later this weekend to sign up. Speaking of that, we'll have all the registration information, location details and such updated on our website by the end of this weekend.

The On-Air Plug
Have to mention a great plug we got from our friends at WFSH/104.7 The Fish here in Atlanta. Dan Ratcliffe and Heidi Rew talked about the sale last night durning peak afternoon drive home. Yeah!!! Was so exciting to hear that on the air. Then I called in to Mike Stoudt's show in the evening and he plugged 3 Savvy Sisters again for us! LOVE our friends at The Fish. Thanks Mike, Dan and Heidi!
We've had a great opening to the sale. Last night was our first "public" sale where we had a a pre-sale night from 7 until 9 with a five dollar entry. It was pretty quiet outside and in the store during the 6 o'clock hour. One lady showed up at 6:35 and we had to tell her she couldn't come in until 7. Didn't like turning someone away, especially since we weren't even busy. But, we really want people to be able to count on what we say at 3 Savvy Sisters.
Then suddenly when 7PM rolled around, shoppers practically came out of the woodworks! WOW!
The night was totally busy, right up until 9. Actually, we had a couple of ladies shopping until about 9:30. One of them is opening up a European food shop at 400 at Exit 14. If I recall correctly, I think it's called Mia's. Can't wait to go over there at try some of the delicious food!
We open up for grandparents this morning at 9 and then wide open to the public at 10. If last night was any indicator, today is probably going to be very busy.

The Check-In
Today began check-in. Grateful for the rain, but it would have been swell for it to have come yesterday only. Oh well. I guess I needed to pay more on the rent for our store to get a rain-free afternoon. Hmm. Next year.
The store started filling up fast today with some adorable outfits. My volunteers sure made it all run so smoothly. Thank you ladies! Exciting to think we still have two more days of checking in sellers.
Off to write more emails. I think my hubby is laughing at me talking to myself while I write.

The Set-up
Exhausted - and more yet to do. Went to our sale location today. Tony dropped off the racks there last night, so that was helpful. Spent today assembling and arranging the racks and getting things set for check-ins that begin tomorrow.
It's so great to see things really taking shape. Tomorrow will be day one with my amazing consignors as I get to meet so many people that are a part of my business. So much to do - emails to write, volunteers to wrangle.

The Blessings
You never know how things are going to work out when you are running a business.
You can build a budget covering anticipated hard and soft expenses. You can plan for labor needs and so many other things. However, things change. You have to roll with it no matter whether the twists and turns were good or bad.
For me, this week, I had some great things happen and am so grateful to the people involved. I have met some amazing women in the course of getting ready for this first big sale. It has been tremendous to see their generosity to me and I am so thankful for their support.
Someday I'm sure I'll write about the whole experience, but today will be a short post, mostly to say thank you to my new friends in this business and to my old friends who have been so supportive along the way.

The Cars
No, not the totally awesome 80's band, this was a business idea. So, my husband says, "I have an interesting idea. Let's sell cars at the sale," he said. I kind of thought he was crazy.
We also thought that it might work. So, we added it to the sale. Since people and the car dealerships he's talking with are going to make a last minute decision on participation, there are no vehicles listed on the website yet. I think he was really hoping this idea would have popped already and he'd have 20 or 30 cars, SUVs or minivans on there. But, he's had some great conversations and he's still hopeful that a couple of these guys will say yes at the last minute. He's talking with local Ford, Toyota and Dodge/Jeep dealerships in hopes that they have some really great deals they could give our shoppers.
The idea - 1999 or newer and priced under $10,000. That way it's a less expensive price point so that people who are inclined to pay cash for a vehicle can get a decent deal. Will it work? Who knows. If it doesn't, no loss. If it does, I'll be thrilled we did it. I'm glad we're trying something new here and there to see if we can elevate the experience our sellers and shoppers have at the sale.
